systems, and some food processing operations because they are immune to chloride cracking and crevice corrosion due to a mix of chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen. At -50 degrees Celsius, Duplex UNS S31803 bolts transform from ductile to brittle. It can also become brittle at temperatures between 300 and 1000 degrees Celsius. Therefore, a proposed temperature range is -50 to 300 degrees Celsius. Such bolts get embrittled when exposed to temperatures higher than 300 degrees Celsius and lose their ability to resist corrosion. Duplex UNS S31803 Bolts offer a better corrosion alternative to stainless steel because they exhibit superior sulfide corrosion resistance, chloride etching rigidity, and crevice corrosion resistance compared to 317L. It’s essential to remember that when oxidising media are present, pitting corrosion can be an issue in chloride solutions. In these circumstances, the passive (protective) layer of the Duplex UNS S31803 Bolts material may be harmed, leading to localised pitting.
